Snell & Wilmer Launches Venture San Diego in Support of Local Startup Community

SAN DIEGO (January 16, 2024) – Snell & Wilmer announces today the formation of Venture San Diego, a professional group that will support the local startup community through networking opportunities, educational events and pitch competitions. 

Launched by members of the firm’s Emerging Business and Venture Capital and Private Equity practices, the group will build a network of active entrepreneurs, investors, startup lawyers and other professionals looking to actively engage with and push forward the startup community. The group will host a series of meetings focused on networking and presentations aimed at emerging companies and entrepreneurs. 

“This group aims to provide access to capital, mentorship and education so San Diego emerging companies can thrive,” said Bardia Moayedi, chair of the firm’s Technology Industry Group and co-chair of the firm's Life Sciences Industry Group and who is leading Venture San Diego. “Snell & Wilmer is entrenched in the local startup community – including in the life sciences and high-technology sectors – and we are thrilled to help fuel innovation by bridging and supporting the individuals and organizations we serve.” 

In addition to a series of meetings that will run through 2024, Venture San Diego will open up its meeting space for pitch competitions and pitch presentations by group members. Events will be held at the firm’s San Diego office, as well as at different locations in collaboration with other San Diego organizations aimed at early-stage technology ventures.

Venture San Diego events will focus on topics ranging from fundraising and must-have contracts for startups to employment agreements and foundational transactional agreements. The inaugural event will feature Bardia Moayedi, and details are as follows:
