Biography

Chuck Hauff is one of the founders of the intellectual property (IP) group at Snell and Wilmer LLP, and practices in all aspects of IP including, litigation, prosecution, licensing, and other business transactions. He has technical experience in, among other fields, the chemical, biotechnical, mechanical, electromechanical, computer software, medical products, acoustics, and life sciences disciplines. Chuck has handled a variety of litigation matters for clients of varying sizes both in the United States and abroad. In addition, he has worked with a number of technology clients to develop creative strategies for protecting globally innovative technology from exercise and other mechanical devices to cutting-edge medical products and pharmaceuticals.

Intellectual Property

Chuck Hauff’s professional background includes intellectual property counseling, patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, related litigation and licensing. He has technical experience in, among other fields, the chemical, biotechnical, mechanical, electromechanical, computer software, medical products, acoustics and life sciences disciplines. Chuck has handled a variety of litigation matters for clients of varying sizes both in the United States and abroad. In addition, he has worked with a number of technology clients to develop creative strategies for protecting globally innovative technology from exercise and other mechanical devices to cutting-edge medical products and pharmaceuticals.

Chuck has particular experience working with counterfeit goods (clothing, footwear and the like).

Chuck also deals with a number of clients based outside of the United States (e.g., Japan) and domestic clients with foreign intellectual property issues.

  • Represented major footwear manufacturer in multiple litigation matters against mass merchandisers in the United States and abroad.
  • Represented major footwear/clothing manufacturer in licensing transactions.
Life Sciences and Medical Technology

Chuck Hauff’s love of chemistry actually drew him into the intellectual property arena. Practicing as a patent agent during law school, he worked primarily on petroleum based chemicals and other polymers. Through the course of his career, Chuck has focused on inorganic and organic materials, biological materials, both in their creation and use, as well as applications involving consumable products, retail products, over-the-counter medicinal products and mining operations.
