Sheryl Thomas’ practice is concentrated in immigration, she has more than 20 years of experience advising organizations on the intersection of U.S. immigration law, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance. Sheryl works closely with executive leadership to develop and implement immigration strategies that align with enterprise risk management objectives and long-term talent planning, enabling clients to maintain workforce continuity in a complex and evolving regulatory environment.
Drawing on extensive experience supporting high-growth organizations in the technology and healthcare sectors, Sheryl designs and oversees scalable immigration programs that integrate sponsorship forecasting, global mobility considerations, and green card pipeline strategy – including H-1B, TN, L-1, O-1, National Interest Waiver (NIW), EB-1, PERM , and J-1 waiver (two-year home residency) matters. Her approach emphasizes practical, business-aligned solutions that support access to specialized global talent while managing compliance obligations.
Sheryl regularly advises on compliance governance matters, including the development and enhancement of I‑9 programs, audit readiness initiatives, and internal controls designed to mitigate enforcement risk. She also provides executive guidance on regulatory trends and policy developments impacting workforce strategy and has experience overseeing outside counsel and service providers.
Sheryl received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from DePaul University College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from Smith College. She is licensed to practice law only in Illinois.
