Carlos Sugich is a partner in the firm's Real Estate and Commercial Finance practice group and co-manages the firm's Los Cabos Office. He is admitted to practice law in both the United States (Arizona) and throughout Mexico and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Mexico Law Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of International Law. Carlos practices primarily in the areas of real estate investment, financing, leasing and development in both the U.S. and Mexico. In addition, he regularly advises domestic and foreign clients in the documentation and organization of a variety of cross-border ventures in the U.S., Mexico and Latin America. Carlos has experience with NAFTA regulation, foreign investment regulated by the U.S. and Mexican governments and cross-border dispute settlement. He is a frequent speaker on real estate, cross-border transactions and Mexican law.

Carlos Sugich manages the firm’s Los Cabos, Mexico Office, and heads the firm's Mexico Industry Group. He is admitted to practice law in both the United States (Arizona) and throughout Mexico and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Mexico Law Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law.   • Representation of U.S. based developers and construction companies with respect to resort and master planned communities in Los Cabos, Mexico and along Mexico’s coasts
  • Representation of U.S. based companies with their manufacturing operations in Mexico, including work related to incorporation, permitting, construction, financing, acquisition, leasing, employment and other general business transactions in Mexico
  • Representation of U.S. and Canadian Lenders in connection with commercial cross-border loans secured by real estate and other property and intangibles in Mexico
  • Representation of U.S. manufacturers of gaming equipment and machines with respect to sales and other transactions in Mexico
  • Represents resort owners and developers with mixed use condo hotel projects and prepare CC&Rs, condo regimes, management agreements, lease agreements, unit maintenance agreements, unit rental agreements, etc., in connection with their projects in Mexico
  • Representation of U.S. based hotel brand and management companies with resort developments in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Panama
  • Representation of one of the largest loan servicers of commercial mortgage loans in the U.S. in connection with regulatory issues concerning servicing of securitized loans secured by real property in Mexico
  • Advised a publicly held mining company in the negotiation, due diligence, corporate incorporation and acquisition of mining claims in Mexico
  • Conducted several transactions regarding the acquisition of beneficiary rights and the creation of real estate trusts for real property located in the "Restricted Zone" in Mexico, and title insurance on the same rights
  • Cross-border corporate restructuring of a U.S. based corporation with multiple subsidiaries in Mexico and other tax and general business law related issues
