The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") has released its proposed rule to update Medicare policies and payment rates for acute care hospitals paid under the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), and long-term care hospitals paid under the Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System (LTCH PPS) in fiscal year 2011.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on May 4, 2010. CMS will accept comments on the proposed rule until June 18, 2010 and will respond to comments in a final rule to be issued no later than August 1, 2010.
