Jacob Jones is a commercial litigator whose practice is focused on intellectual property and technology litigation. His experience includes litigation regarding patent and trademark infringement and validity; copyright infringement and ex parte impoundment; unfair competition; trade secret misappropriation; domain name disputes; and contracts relating to technology development, information technology services, and engineering services.
Jacob has experience litigating intellectual property matters before federal district and state courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, as well as under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy. He has also navigated jurisdictional issues associated with asserting patent infringement claims against the United States government when those claims relate to non-government patent infringement litigation in federal district court.
Jacob is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has experience prosecuting patent, trademark, and copyright applications. He has counseled clients regarding intellectual property portfolio development and strategy; licensing; due diligence; clearance; patent, trademark, and copyright infringement and validity; and patentability. Jacob’s technical background and case experience include molecular biotechnology – including transgenic organisms – and other biosciences, chemistry, agriculture, sustainable energy, software, database management, mechanical, electrical, energetic materials and systems, and firearms.
Through his pro-bono activities, Jacob also has experience regarding obtaining legal status for abused, neglected, or abandoned juveniles under the federal Special Immigrant Juvenile program.
