Two Snell & Wilmer Attorneys Recognized as Top Pro Bono Attorneys by the Arizona Bar Foundation

PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that attorneys Ed J. Hermes and John Urbanic were selected as 2026 recipients of the Top 50 Pro Bono Attorney Awards by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education. Top 50 Pro Bono awardees, who are nominated by the Foundation’s approved legal service entities and are honored for the numerous hours they have dedicated to helping provide access to justice, were recently recognized at the Foundation’s annual luncheon on June 25.

The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, also known as the Arizona Bar Foundation, is an organization created by the State Bar of Arizona to promote access to justice for all Arizonans, by preparing Arizona youth for civic responsibility and providing access to justice for Arizonans most in need.

Snell & Wilmer Phoenix Partner Joseph Adams, who also serves as President-Elect of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, shared, “We congratulate Ed and John for this recognition and for generously donating their time to serve those in need. As Board member, I’m privileged to witness the Foundation’s valuable work first hand, both by its dedicated staff and the work of volunteers such as Ed and John.”

Ed Hermes is a commercial litigator who is committed to serving as a trusted advisor to his clients and community. His practice focuses on complex commercial, tax, property, construction disputes, and disputes involving Federal Indian Law. Hermes is an active member of the community and involved in numerous local and education-based organizations, including serving as School Board Member of the Osborn School District Governing Board and Chair of the City of Phoenix Vision Zero Street Transportation Committee. Ed has spent hundreds of hours providing pro bono legal advocacy to tenants, elders, and immigrant families in need of legal support.

John Urbanic is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has experience in patent and trademark prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international applications. Urbanic is also an active member of the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center’s NextGen committee.
