Snell & Wilmer Welcomes Derek Pershing to the Firm
DALLAS – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Derek C. Pershing has joined the firm’s Dallas office as counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group.
Pershing represents institutional investors, developers, private equity sponsors, lenders, owners, operators and other market participants in complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, joint ventures, financings, and other real estate matters. His experience spans a wide range of commercial real estate projects, including industrial, multifamily, self-storage, retail, office, build-to-rent community developments, and master-planned community developments.
Pershing advises clients throughout the lifecycle of real estate transactions, from due diligence, capital structuring and negotiation, and through closing. His practice includes negotiating purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, declarations and restrictions, loan documents, as well as advising on title, survey, land use, and other development matters. Pershing is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law, Farm and Ranch Real Estate Law, and Residential Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction recognizing Texas attorneys who have demonstrated substantial experience and specialized competence.

Before joining Snell & Wilmer, Pershing was a shareholder at Wilson Cribbs + Goren, where he advised clients on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. He also serves as an adjunct professor at South Texas College of Law Houston, a position he has held since 2020.
Pershing earned his J.D., cum laude, from South Texas College of Law Houston. He earned his M.B.A. in finance and his B.B.A. in finance and economics, summa cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas. He served in the United States Army as a Health Care Specialist/Combat Medic from 2002 to 2006.
