Snell & Wilmer Partner J. Damon Ashcraft Elected to the State Bar of Arizona’s Board of Governors

Phoenix – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Phoenix Partner J. Damon Ashcraft has been elected to the State Bar of Arizona’s Board of Governors.

The State Bar of Arizona is a non-profit organization that operates under the supervision of the Arizona Supreme Court. The Bar’s mission is to serve and protect the public with respect to the provision of legal services and access to justice. The Bar is governed by a 29-member Board of Governors whose members are primarily lawyers elected by Bar members. The Board of Governors oversees the policy making and operations of the organization.

Ashcraft is a seasoned intellectual property attorney with significant intellectual property experience. As a registered patent attorney, he prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the biotechnology, medical device, electronics, software, and business method areas, and also manages numerous global patent portfolios. Ashcraft’s trademark experience includes domestic and foreign trademark registration, and he currently manages numerous trademark portfolios. He has been recognized multiple times by the World Trademark Review as one of the top ten attorneys in the country for his work with generic top level domain names.

Ashcraft is an active participant in the Phoenix community, serving on the firm’s Community Involvement Committee, and having previously served as President of the Arizona Bar Foundation. He is a leader within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and previously served as the Chair of ICANN’s Nominating Committee (NomCom) which appoints 50 percent of ICANN’s Board of Directors and other key leadership positions within ICANN. He also served as Chair-Elect and Associate-Chair of the NomCom.
