Snell & Wilmer Adds Daniel Sale to Government and Congressional Investigations Team in D.C.

Sep 14, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Daniel Sale has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C office as a partner in the Special Litigation and Compliance practice group. Sale brings extensive experience representing companies, boards, executives, and individuals in high-stakes government and congressional investigations, enforcement proceedings, and parallel civil litigation.

Sale advises life sciences companies, financial institutions, and other highly regulated businesses in both criminal and civil investigations. His experience includes matters involving the False Claims Act, financial crimes, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), antitrust and marketplace manipulation, whistleblower cases, and transactional tax investigations.

“With significant experience advising clients on high-stakes government and congressional investigations, Dan further strengthens our deep bench of lawyers counseling organizations facing scrutiny at the municipal, state, and federal levels,” said Barbara Dawson, firm chair. “His counsel will be a valuable resource for our clients and colleagues.”

Sale’s work has included advising pharmaceutical and medical device companies in investigations involving off-label promotion, advising senior executives in FCPA investigations globally, and representing an individual in connection with the Special Counsel investigation conducted by Robert Mueller. He is also well-versed in handling state attorney general investigations, having negotiated resolutions with attorney general offices in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and has defended clients in three of the largest Anti-Kickback Statute investigations resolved by the Department of Justice.

“The most consequential government investigations rarely present a single legal problem. They create overlapping legal, political, regulatory, repetitional, and business risks, and clients need advisors who can see the entire field.,” said Sale. “Snell & Wilmer has the depth, culture, and agility to bring the right capabilities together when it matters most, and I’m excited to work with my new colleagues across the firm to help clients navigate those moments.”

“Daniel is an important addition to our growing team in Washington, D.C.,” said Richard Kim, managing partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. “His experience advising companies and individuals in sensitive, complex investigations will be invaluable to our clients in Washington and across the markets we serve.”

Sale’s move continues the firm’s strategic expansion of its investigations and regulatory capabilities nationwide, following the additions of Oregon DOJ veteran Michael Kron in Portland and former U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Chief Counsel Scott Driggs in Denver earlier this year. In D.C., Sale joins environmental and sustainability counsel Julie Peng, who arrived from Lucid Motors in August, and Sam Neel, who brought deep experience advising clients on congressional investigations, federal agency inquiries and political law matters when he joined the firm last year.

Sale earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served on the editorial board of The Tax Lawyer, and his B.A. in economics from Yale University. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard D. Bennett of the United States District Court of Maryland and most recently was a partner at King & Spalding.
