Collections Manager

Snell & Wilmer is one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States, with more than 450 attorneys in nine offices. The firm is currently seeking a Client Collections Manager to manage collections. The primary purpose of the Collections Manager is to facilitate and manage the client collection process by working with attorneys and their clients in the collections process. Product Liability Litigation Paralegal

Intellectual Property Paralegal

Intellectual Property Paralegal – Patent and/or Trademark (Phoenix)

Snell & Wilmer is currently seeking a full time Paralegal to join its Intellectual Property practice in Phoenix, Arizona.  Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years of relevant experience with either U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks and/or copyrights, but having experience in all areas is a plus.  Position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Patents – U.S.

  • Execute searches on U.S. and international patent databases re:  patent family information, ownership/inventor information and other data as needed.
  • Work with attorneys to prepare and file applications with the USPTO with regard to formality requirements, including electronic filing of all documents with the USPTO.
  • Monitor cases and prepare and file Information Disclosure Statements.
  • Monitor status and work with attorneys/clients re possible priority-based PCT and/or other foreign applications.
  • Work with attorneys to ensure timely responses to Office Actions, payment of issue fees, and submission of formal drawings.
  • Review granted patent documents to determine maintenance requirements and calculate term.

Patents – PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty)

  • Conform applications and drawings to PCT formatting requirements and prepare request forms, ensuring correct applicant, inventor, and priority information (if applicable).
  • Comply with other formalities (POA forms, formal drawings, etc.), and select the desired International Search Authority.
  • File all applications, drawings, and other documents electronically.
  • Receive input from attorneys regarding International Search Reports and relevancy of cited art, and discuss strategies with responsible attorneys regarding possible Article 19 and/or Article 34 amendments and ensure cited art is properly disclosed in corresponding national cases.
  • Monitor PCT timeline, ensuring timely filing of Demand and national/regional entry.
  • Work with attorneys and clients to evaluate findings set forth in International Preliminary Examination Reports and select countries for national/regional entry.
  • Assist with preparing cost estimates in connection with selection of countries for national/regional entry.

Foreign Patents (including national/regional entry from PCT cases) and Trademarks

  • Assist with preparing correspondence to foreign associates, ensuring transmission of all required documents, and work with foreign associates through compliance with local required filing formalities, including legalization of documents if necessary.
  • Monitor status to ensure timely filing of request for examination and dates for payment of requisite maintenance fees in patent cases.
  • Review granted patent documents to determine maintenance requirements and calculate term.
  • Work with attorneys and clients regarding validation procedure after grant of European patents.
  • Work with attorneys upon receipt of office actions issued by foreign offices to ensure proper instructions and timely responses in both patent and trademark cases.
  • Review Certificates of Registration to determine renewal dates and use requirements in trademark cases.

Trademarks – U.S.

  • Execute availability/preliminary screening searches on trademark databases, including available international databases.
  • Conduct on-line internet searching for possible conflicting domain names or other internet usage.
  • Work with attorneys and clients to determine correct mark, including design image, if any, and proper classification of goods or services.
  • Assist with preparing and filing trademark/service mark applications, either use-based or intent-to-use via electronic filing.
  • Monitor status and work with attorneys and clients regarding possible priority-based foreign applications.
  • Review office actions issued by the USPTO and assist with preparing draft responses.
  • Determine acceptability of specimens evidencing use and assist with preparing and filing Amendments to Allege Use or Statement of Use.
  • Review Certificates of Registration for accuracy and determine dates for evidence of continued use/incontestability and renewal.
  • Assist with preparing and filing Section 8 and 15 Affidavits and Renewal Applications.
  • Assist with preparing and filing Trademark and/or Trade Name Registration forms (State).

Copyright

  • Work with attorneys and clients to determine type of copyright work, correct authorship, and copyright claimant.
  • Complete electronic copyright registration forms, including Request for Special Handling, if appropriate.

Additional Qualifications

Human Resources Manager

Practice Group Manager

The Practice Group Manager reports directly to and will provide support to the Director of Practice Group Administration in overseeing the daily operations of the firm’s practice groups across all offices. The Practice Group Manager will work closely with the Practice Group leaders (PGLs) and will play an active role in supporting them in practice group management initiatives and programs.

  • Resolve and appeal rejected electronic invoices, so they can be resubmitted.
  • Understand client billing guidelines. Intimate knowledge of client billing guidelines
  • Meets regularly with billing attorneys and secretaries to discuss past due accounts and determine actions to collect.
  • Perform account reconciliations, provide account ledgers when necessary or requested.
  • Act as liaison between attorneys and the Accounting Department.
  • Build relationships with attorneys, secretaries and clients to facilitate prompt payment.

Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the western United States, seeks an experienced marketing professional. This full-time position will be based in Salt Lake City (SLC), Utah. It will report directly to the Phoenix-based director of marketing, but will also have a reporting relationship to the administrative partners and office director in SLC. The position will include some firmwide marketing responsibilities and occasional travel to other offices and events. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and plan client seminars, attorney speaking engagements, special events and other marketing initiatives as required; and manage the appropriate pre- and post-event follow-up activities for each of these initiatives. 
  • Draft, edit and distribute press releases and other firm news.
  • Work with attorneys to develop and place articles in relevant publications and distribute newsletters and alerts to appropriate contacts.
  • Work with attorneys and practice groups to develop and execute marketing and business development plans.
  • Conduct necessary prospect, client and market research.
  • Work with attorneys and practice groups to draft and edit award nominations and ranking submissions (i.e., Chambers, Best Lawyers, 40 Under 40, etc.).
  • Work with attorneys to secure sponsorship and marketing event approvals and ensure Snell & Wilmer receives and maximizes all contracted deliverables.
  • Work with SLC marketing partners/committee to manage/enhance marketing mentor program to achieve objectives.
  • Provide marketing and business development coaching/training.
  • Plan, manage and execute SLC advertising plan.
  • Identify potential clients, business development and cross-selling opportunities and work with attorneys and practice groups to maximize those efforts.
  • Work with Phoenix marketing team to ensure firmwide marketing initiatives are integrated into SLC programs and initiatives.
  • Work with Phoenix marketing team to ensure the marketing and business development needs of SLC attorneys and practice groups are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide content editing/proofreading support for marketing department projects.
  • Participate on SLC Community Involvement Committee and others as determined by office priorities.
  • Manage special projects as assigned. 
  • Participate in weekly marketing department meetings.   

Specific Requirements:

  • College degree in marketing, communications or related field of study is required.
  • Previous law firm experience preferred. Professional services and/or legal-related experience helpful. 
  • Ability to make presentations and to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.  
  • Excellent writing, grammar, proofing and editing skills. 
  • Proven project management skills.  
  • Ability to deal professionally with all internal and external clients on all levels and develop strong professional relationships. 
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to travel and work before and after hours. 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
