Federal Agencies Issue Proposed Rules for Accountable Care Organizations


On March 31, 2011, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare ("CMS"), the U.S. Department of Justice ("DOJ"), the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC"), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General ("OIG"), and the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") released the much-anticipated proposed rules and related guidance for the new Accountable Care Organizations ("ACOs") contemplated under the Affordable Care Act (the "ACA").
