Under the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA), employers, in general, are required to pay employees a minimum wage and overtime for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. 29 U.S.C. §§ 206, 207. The FLSA, however, contains exceptions for employees that serve in a bona fide executive, administrative or professional capacity. See id. at § 213(A).
