Under a new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation, more than 10,000 facilities in the United States must begin tracking their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions on January 1, 2010 and publicly submit an annual report of those emissions in 2011. EPA estimates that the total cost for compliance in the private sector will be $115 million for the first year and $72 million per year for subsequent years.
