Soon companies will be inundated with requests from students looking for summer internships. Many eager students are willing to work without compensation just for the opportunity for some real work experience and to add substance to their resumes. For companies, it can be quite tempting to bring in some free labor for the summer. The risks however in using “free” interns may far outweigh any reward. State and federal laws generally prohibit the use of free labor and require companies to comply with minimum wage and overtime laws….
