Elizabeth Brereton’s practice is concentrated in utility scale renewable energy development, public utility regulation, distributed generation, and energy and environmental law including issues surrounding power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, tariffs, energy resource procurement, transmission state and federal permitting, electric transmission regulation, and local government requirements affecting the public leasing and utility easements. She advises public and private clients on the regulatory process, energy development, land use matters pertaining to local permitting and easements, lease terms, Open Access Transmission Tariffs, interconnection, and NERC Reliability Standards. She also assists clients in developing critical infrastructure security policies and internal compliance strategies.
Elizabeth's background as a regulator, and her experience with regulatory agencies, allows her to help her clients navigate complex regulatory processes governing certain transactions and to develop effective litigation strategies. She also represents public and private entities involved in utility scale energy transactions.
