Jason Spitalnick is a partner in Snell & Wilmer’s Denver office and a member of the firm’s Litigation, Investigations, and Trials practice group (including the Investigations, Government Enforcement, and White Collar Protection group and the Securities and Shareholder Litigation group). Jason focuses his practice on securities enforcement defense, white collar defense, internal investigations, and commercial litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Jason served as Counsel in the Enforcement Division at the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he conducted complex investigations into violations of federal securities laws–including public company accounting fraud, offering fraud, Ponzi schemes, insider trading, and breaches of fiduciary duty by investment advisers. In addition to conducting investigations, Jason participated on litigation teams for his SEC matters, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on securities enforcement proceedings.
Prior to joining the SEC, Jason was a litigation partner at Foster Graham Milstein & Calisher in Denver, where he served on the firm’s management committee and represented entity, government, and individual clients in state and federal courts across a variety of industries. He developed a full-service approach to client counseling, working to help clients resolve business disputes effectively and efficiently.
Jason’s experience also includes nearly a decade as an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, where he conducted complex internal investigations and represented domestic and international corporate, fund, and individual clients in securities, commodities, antitrust, and commercial litigation matters. While at Davis Polk, he was seconded to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and prosecuted multiple felony jury trials.
Jason began his career as an Assistant Attorney General in the District of Columbia, where he provided legal counsel to the District’s executive branch and worked directly with the Attorney General on legal policy matters.
