Snell & Wilmer Firm Chair Barbara J. Dawson Selected as One of ABA’s Most Influential Hispanics in Law

PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Firm Chair Barbara J. Dawson was selected as one of the American Bar Associations’ most Influential Hispanics In law

The American Bar Association (ABA) is one of the largest associations of attorneys, committed to advancing the legal and ethical foundations for the nation’s legal industry. The ABA established the recognition in celebration of Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month and through the honor commemorates activists and legal trailblazers across the industry.  

An active member of the ABA, Dawson currently serves on the group’s Governance Commission and is a member of the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program Committee. Dawson is a past chair of the ABA’s prestigious Section of Litigation and past member of the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. She is also a prior board member for the ABA’s Rule of Law Initiative. Outside of the ABA, Dawson’s leadership has included roles with the Arizona Bar Association, the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education, the Arizona Tax Research Association, and Lex Mundi. She is also a member of the American Bar Foundation, the American Law Institute, and the International Bar Association. 

Within Snell & Wilmer, Dawson supports and advances the growth and development of its practices across the firm’s sixteen office locations as firm chair. She has served on the firm’s Executive Committee and three-person Compensation Committee for several years. Dawson has also led the firm’s commercial litigation practice group and its international industry group.

Dawson’s legal practice has concentrated on assisting Fortune 500 businesses and boards of directors with internal investigations, complex litigation, and regulatory compliance. She has received broad recognition for both her business and legal skills in handling “bet the business” matters and large portfolios of litigation and investigation issues. Dawson has deep industry experience with several highly regulated business sectors including financial services, energy, education, and technology.
