Snell & Wilmer Partners James Kilroy and Andrew Young Named Litigation Counsel of America Fellows

DENVER, SAN DIEGO – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Partners James Kilroy and Andrew P. Young have been selected as a Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). The LCA, composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers, is a trial lawyer honorary society dedicated to promoting superior advocacy, professionalism, community service and ethical standards among its Fellows.

Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Selection is based on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. The number of Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity and inclusion to align effectively with recognition of excellence in litigation across all segments of the bar. Fellows are generally at the partner or shareholder level or independent practitioners with considerable experience. Fellows may also include judges, professors of law, governmental attorneys and in-house counsel.

Kilroy is the managing partner of Snell & Wilmer’s Denver office and a business trial and appellate lawyer with more than 30 years of experience handling jury trials, bench trials, arbitration matters, and appeals throughout the United States. His practice is diverse, spanning contracts, securities, corporate issues, officer and director liability, trade secrets, construction, professional liability, and employment matters. He has extensive experience in complex litigation proceedings, including class and collective action defense, multidistrict litigation, and derivative and special litigation committee proceedings. Kilroy is also an experienced appellate advocate who has handled dozens of appeals in state and federal appellate courts. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in multiple categories, including Commercial Litigation, Bet-the-Company Litigation, and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions, and was named Denver Lawyer of the Year for Bet-the-Company Litigation in 2027.

Young is a partner in the firm’s San Diego office and a member of the Litigation, Investigations, and Trials Practice Group, focusing his practice on internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, and commercial litigation. He has tried more than 20 jury and bench trials throughout the country and has extensive experience representing clients in complex litigation involving commercial, antitrust, business torts, and products liability matters. Prior to returning to private practice, Young served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division, handling cases involving corporate fraud, money laundering, public corruption, and RICO violations. Notably, he was the lead prosecutor on “Operation Trojan Shield,” an international effort coordinated by the Department of Justice and the FBI to combat transnational organized crime, which led to the arrest of more than 1,000 individuals and the seizure of nearly 100 tons of drugs and $50 million in currency. Young has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Criminal Defense: White-Collar and received the FBI Director’s Award for International Operation.
