Snell & Wilmer Partner Andrew Young Inducted as Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers

Oct 27, 2026

SAN DIEGO – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that San Diego Partner Andrew P. Young was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) during its Annual Meeting, held October 22-25, 2026.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious professional organizations for trial lawyers in North America, the American College of Trial Lawyers is an invitation-only fellowship recognizing exceptional trial advocacy, integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct. Fellowship is extended following a rigorous peer-review process to experienced trial lawyers who have distinguished themselves in the courtroom and throughout their careers. Founded in 1950, the College limits membership to no more than one percent of the lawyer population in any state or province. Its mission includes preserving and enhancing trial practice, civility, professionalism, and the administration of justice.

“Being inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers is an extraordinary honor, particularly because it comes from lawyers whose work and judgment I deeply respect,” said Young. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from exceptional trial lawyers throughout my career, and I’m grateful to the mentors and colleagues who helped me reach this milestone, as well as to Snell & Wilmer for its continued support of my practice.”

Young is a partner in Snell & Wilmer’s San Diego office and a member of the Litigation, Investigations, and Trials Practice Group. His practice focuses on internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, and complex civil litigation, including commercial disputes and products liability matters. Over the course of his career, Young has tried more than 20 cases in state and federal courts across the country. In an uncommon breadth of trial experience, he has represented clients in all four courtroom roles: as a federal prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, counsel for civil plaintiffs, and counsel for civil defendants. His experience spans complex criminal prosecutions, securities fraud, commercial disputes, antitrust, business torts, and products liability litigation.

Before returning to private practice, Young served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California and as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division. He also served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. During his government service, Young prosecuted cases involving corporate fraud, money laundering, public corruption, and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act violations.

Young was the lead prosecutor on Operation Trojan Shield, an international law enforcement operation coordinated by the Department of Justice and the FBI that resulted in more than 1,000 arrests and the seizure of nearly 100 tons of drugs and $50 million in currency. The operation, which became the subject of the book Dark Wire, is considered one of the most significant international organized crime investigations in recent history.
