Snell & Wilmer Attorney Sarah Hibbard Appointed Chair of the ABA Business Law Section’s Intellectual Property Committee

SAN DIEGO – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Sarah Hibbard has been appointed to serve a three-year term as Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Section. Hibbard began her term following the conclusion of the ABA Business Law Section’s September Meeting in Chicago on September 3.

The ABA Business Law Section’s Intellectual Property Committee serves as a resource for business lawyers who encounter intellectual property issues in connection with business transactions and litigation. The committee develops educational programs and materials addressing legal and business issues related to intellectual property.

Hibbard’s practice focuses on helping technology, life sciences, and digital health companies establish a strong legal foundation and position themselves for growth. Her experience includes general corporate governance, private debt and equity financings, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as structuring and negotiating intellectual property and commercial transactions involving licensing and technology transfers, collaborations, preclinical and clinical research, research and development activities, and manufacturing.

Hibbard is also actively involved in San Diego’s technology and life sciences community. She serves on the board of directors of Connect San Diego and is a member of Women in Bio, where she serves as Co-Vice Chair of the San Diego chapter’s Founders Forum. She is also an advisor to the Startup Legal Garage at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and a mentor with the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center and San Diego State University’s Aztec Mentor Program.

Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, Hibbard served as general counsel for a San Diego-based biotechnology company operating in the oncology space. Her previous experience includes biotech, medical device and aesthetics, hardware, and XaaS technologies.
