Snell & Wilmer Attorney Aline Longstaff to Serve on Utah State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners

Sep 02, 2026

SALT LAKE CITY – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that attorney Aline Longstaff will serve a one-year term on the Utah State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners as the Utah Minority Bar Association (UMBA) Representative for 2026–2027.

Longstaff will serve in UMBA’s designated seat on the Board as part of her role as immediate past president of UMBA. The Board of Bar Commissioners serves as the governing body of the Utah State Bar, providing leadership and oversight and helping guide the Bar’s efforts to serve Utah’s legal profession and the public. The Commission brings together representatives from across Utah’s legal community who dedicate their time to shaping policy, supporting access to justice, strengthening the legal profession, and addressing the evolving needs of Utah attorneys and the public.

Longstaff brings a powerful combination of appellate and trial-level experience, strategic insight, and a strong commitment to client-focused service. She is known for guiding critical motions, defending major claims, and safeguarding reputations with precision, perseverance, and persuasive advocacy. Her experience spans both district and appellate courts, where she draws on years as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Diana Hagen of the Utah Court of Appeals and the Honorable Bruce S. Jenkins of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah to anticipate judicial reasoning and craft compelling arguments.

Longstaff’s practice covers a broad range of complex litigation matters, from high-stakes motions to firm-defining disputes. She is recognized as a rising star in business litigation, having been named one of Utah Business Magazine’s 30 Women to Watch (2024) and selected for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Leadership Advancement Program for 2025–26. Beyond her courtroom work, Longstaff’s leadership and dedication are evident in her service as co-lead of the firm’s Lawyers of Color Affinity Group and as a board member of the Utah Minority Bar Association. She brings an inclusive, relationship-driven approach to every matter, fostering trust, understanding, and a multicultural perspective that strengthens client collaboration and results.
