Sandra Day O’Connor Institute Elects Snell & Wilmer Firm Chair Barbara J. Dawson to Board of Directors

Phoenix – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Firm Chair Barbara J. Dawson has been elected to the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute Board of Directors.

“The O’Connor Institute’s Board of Directors is pleased that Barb is willing to serve,” said former Snell & Wilmer Chair Matt Feeney, who recently ended ten years of service on the Institute’s Board, including five years as Board Chair. “The Institute’s focus on civics education, civil discourse, and the rule of law aligns with Barb’s longtime commitment to our community and to the legal profession. I am confident that Barb will bring her leadership skills and experience to the Institute’s work as the Institute continues to expand its reach and impact.”

Founded in 2009 by retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the mission of the O’Connor Institute is to continue her distinguished legacy and her lifetime work to advance American democracy through multigenerational civics education, civil discourse, and civic engagement. The Institute focuses on fostering a deeper understanding of our country, the rule of law, and the importance of active citizenship. The Institute also emphasizes the significance of non-partisan dialogue in strengthening democratic values and practices.

Nationally, she has served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation, and internationally, she previously chaired the board of Lex Mundi, a global network of independent law firms.
