Patrick Fowler’s practice concentrates on defending companies facing high-stakes product liability and business claims. He also helps companies dealing with technology issues related to internet/e-commerce claims, intellectual property disputes, data privacy and security concerns and e-discovery issues. Pat counsels clients regarding compliance with government (FDA, CPSC, NHTSA, USCG) and industry safety regulations and best practices, including product recalls. He provides advice about product warning systems and information manuals.
He assists clients with developing data storage and data security protocols (including cloud computing and cloud storage), information governance policies and procedures, document retention policies and electronic discovery processes. Pat currently leads Snell & Wilmer's e-discovery and document management committee and is a leader of the firm's Privacy, Data Protection and Cybersecurity practice area.
Pat’s practice is nationwide, with state and federal court trials in Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia and Pennsylvania, and litigation in most of the rest of the country. In the last few years, he has taken to trial a number of catastrophic damage cases involving automobile air bag and seat belt defect claims, and boating accidents involving carbon monoxide exposure, drowning and propeller strike injuries.
Pat is actively involved in the Arizona legal community. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of Community Legal Services, Inc., the largest non-profit pro bono legal services organization in Arizona. In addition, for more than 20 years he served on the Advisory Committee of the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyers Program. From 2006 to 2012, Pat served on the State Bar of Arizona's Standing Committee on Appointments, and was recently elected to the governing board of the E-Commerce and Technology section of the State Bar of Arizona.
