Mentoring

(COACH Program)

The COACH Program

We organize our firmwide mentoring efforts through a program we call COACH, or Colleagues Offering a Collaborative Hand. Facilitated by our ADC Mentoring Subcommittee and Attorney Development staff, we assign COACH partner and associate mentors to each associate joining the firm. As associates progress through their career, we offer opportunities to adjust mentoring pairings as different needs emerge, and to add additional mentors, such as assignment to a "Partnership Advisor" through the firm's signature Partnership Pathways Program for senior associates.

To foster these relationships, we host formal mentor-mentee events, publish a monthly mentoring tips newsletter, deliver mentoring-focused trainings, and send periodic mentoring discussion prompts. In addition, mentors are invited to participate in each associate's annual performance evaluation and often facilitate client introductions, involvement in professional associations, and opportunities for firm and community service in furtherance of the firm’s Credo.

Of course, our attorneys also develop a number of organic and informal mentoring relationships throughout their time with the firm. You will find that attorneys across all experience levels at Snell & Wilmer take genuine interest in training and developing the next generation of firm partners.
