Runaway Malpractice Verdicts: Cause and Effect

Jury awards in medical malpractice cases in the United States have skyrocketed over the last ten years, having an alarming effect on the quality and availability of healthcare. Increasing awards have made quality healthcare more difficult, and in some cases, impossible to obtain. This article examines the recent trends in medical malpractice jury awards, and will analyze the effect they have had on the quality and availability of healthcare.
