HEADER-EmergingBusinessSeries-HowToTurnTragedyIn 2002, Matt was left stranded on an 18,000 foot volcano located outside of Mexico City. Just below the summit, Matt dove for his sick and falling father… tumbling over 3,000 feet down the mountain before coming to an abrupt stop. Due to the altitude and the severity of his injuries, Matt and his father were forced to fight through the night in subzero temperatures.

Through that night, Matt’s fingers and toes were exposed to the freezing weather, and severe frostbite began to set in. As a result, Matt lost the majority of his fingers and toes. Looking back, what seemed like such a horrendous event in his life has, ironically, turned into one of the greatest.

Matt’s story is one of struggle, survival and recovery. It’s a story of finding new beginnings and discovering incredible gifts in the midst of tragedy. It’s about coming out on the other side of a shocking experience, as a person who LOVES life, is intensely grateful and never loses passion.

We invite you to the next program in the Emerging Business Seminar Series, where partner Brian J. Burt, and his guest, Matt Miller, a managing director of SJS Investment Services, will discuss turning tragedy into passion and power.

Matt Miller will recount his life changing story, share the amazing lessons learned, and explain why they matter in both business and life.
