Our Practice - What We Do
Snell & Wilmer’s Insurance Services Group is comprised of a team of attorneys, paralegals, and nurse paralegals who represent insurance companies in complex litigation matters. This group provides a wide range of services to address the varying needs of insurance companies by utilizing the resources of a large firm in a cost‑efficient manner.
Our Attorneys - Who We Are
Our litigators have extensive experience in the defense of insurance coverage and bad-faith litigation as well as personal and commercial insurance claims that arise throughout the western United States. Specifically, in the area of insurance coverage, we regularly assist insurance carriers in policy interpretation and coverage analysis for a wide range of liability and first-party coverage. This includes personal and commercial lines, professional liability, fidelity, director and officer liability, commercial property, inland marine, and excess and surplus lines. We strive to protect our clients from costly litigation whenever possible. However, when necessary, our attorneys are prepared to litigate vigorously and provide our clients with the advantage of having extensive experience in both bench and jury trial venues.
Our Clients - Who We Represent
We counsel insurance companies in a wide variety of litigation matters ranging from small disputes to complex insurance coverage litigation. Our attorneys have successfully litigated and resolved insurance coverage disputes and bad-faith claims and have prosecuted and defended all types of litigation involving insurance-related issues, including first and third party bad-faith suits, policy development, brokerage disputes, surplus lines insurance, Department of Insurance complaints, declaratory judgment actions, and bankruptcy proceedings.
Our successful defense of insurance companies in national and state class actions merits a special word. We are proud that our firm has taken the lead in high-exposure, hard-fought class actions against carriers that have been dismissed either by the Plaintiffs or Court without our clients paying any money. These cases have been in Madison County, Illinois (the birthplace of insurance class actions), Chicago, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. We have also provided comprehensive liability defense work for covered claims to many leading national commercial property, liability, and fidelity/surety insurance companies on matters involving negligence claims, including automobile, trucks, and commercial vehicles, and premises liability; professional liability, including medical, legal, accounting and agent/broker malpractice; property damage, including fire (cause and origin), and general property damage and construction defect; product liability representation in cases in the medical and pharmacological industry; and product liability cases representing chemical and industrial manufacturing: including aircraft control systems, medical devices, firearms, industrial and construction equipment, electronics, power tools, and liquid propane equipment.
