Government Relations

Our Practice - What We Do
Participation in the process of creating, implementing and modifying legislation and regulation is critical for successful business operations. Snell & Wilmer attorneys serve as communicators, strategists, issue managers, and persuaders between clients and politicians, and decision makers for corporations, associations, businesses, and individuals confronted by federal legislation, regulations, and agency policy that critically impact their economic and political interests.

Our government relations team brings bipartisan leadership and experience in the legislative and approval process affecting federal, state and local legislation and regulation. Snell & Wilmer attorneys provide multi-disciplinary advocacy in all government arenas ranging from the adoption of groundbreaking federal and state legislation and regulation to the resolution of local zoning and land use issues.

Our Attorneys - Who We Are
Our political and administrative voice has been serving individuals, businesses and representative groups for the past 65 years. Snell & Wilmer maintains one of the largest government relations groups in the Western United States, and continues to participate in legislation and the decision making process throughout the region.

Over the years, Snell & Wilmer has built a strong reputation and established long-standing relationships with congressional delegations across the region, providing access to state legislative bodies and regulatory administrative agencies in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. Our attorneys frequently serve on ad hoc or duly constituted committees that review and influence recommendations relating to legislation and regulation.

Our Clients - Who We Represent
Our clients include diverse types of industries facing the varying issues and concerns that are regularly impacted by changing legislation. In addition to experience with the public utilities and the transportation industry, our team of government relations attorneys regularly represent home builders, real estate developers, gaming industry leaders and schools.

Our Experience - What We've Done
Snell & Wilmer's attorneys assisted in the drafting and adoption of federal legislation creating the Central Arizona Project, which today delivers millions of acre-feet of water from the Colorado River to serve the needs of Phoenix, Tucson and the surrounding communities. In addition, our attorneys were responsible for the regulatory approvals necessary to create Arizona Public Service, the largest electrical utility in the State of Arizona, which maintains the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant. Currently we represent the Tucson Airport Authority and the Utah Transit Authority on a variety of legal matters.
