The Wild West on Trial

Who says litigation training programs can't be educational and entertaining? Snell & Wilmer's "The Trial of the OK Corral" is a unique in-house trial program based on the historic 1881 Tombstone shootout. In the mock case of McLaury v Earp — legendary lawman Wyatt Earp — the program covers the basics of opening statements, closing arguments, examination of lay witnesses, introduction and use of exhibits, objections, impeachment and courtroom decorum.

Participants in the program benefit from the opportunity to meet and work with peers and senior attorneys from other offices, receive one-on-one personal critiques and advice, and experience different trial strategies and styles. All in a modern case of frontier justice.

Attorneys are encouraged to participate in CLE through the state and local bar. Each attorney is encouraged to attend his or her annual state bar convention.

Practice group meetings are held at least once a month to discuss administrative issues, share new developments in their areas of practice and promote cohesiveness.

First year associates are evaluated after six months and then again after one year. All other associates and of counsel are evaluated annually in the fall. Evaluations provide an opportunity for associates to receive feedback from partners and supervising attorneys and create development goals for the future.
