Jenny Hua’s practice is concentrated in commercial litigation and appellate litigation. She has handled a wide range of business litigation matters, such as defense of statutory violations, including consumer protection statutes, environmental statutes, and franchise statutes. Jenny has also developed a keen interest in arbitration, including how to enforce arbitration provisions, as well as bringing and defending against anti-SLAPP motions.
Jenny help clients by using creative strategies intended to help resolve cases early, often by bringing dispositive motions, including demurrers, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment. She has also counseled trial teams in preserving the record and drafting jury instructions and motions-in-limine in preparation for appeal. Jenny has handled various civil appeals in both the federal and state court systems, with dozens of cases in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and California’s intermediate courts of appeals. She has also prepared petitions and briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and California Supreme Court. She has considerable experience drafting merits briefs, amicus briefs, motions to stay and/or vacate judgment, petitions for review, and petitions for writ of mandamus. These cases have addressed a wide variety of substantive matters including product liability, employment law, family law, probate law, breach of contract, fraud, statutory interpretation, constitutional law, and immigration.
Jenny was recently the Co-Chair of the Appellate Litigation Subcommittee in the Business and Corporate Litigation Section of the American Bar Association (2020-2022) and the President of the Appellate Law section of the Orange County Bar Association (2022). She stays apprised of the latest developments in the law by co-writing a regular newsletter for the Orange County Bar Association’s Business Litigation section.
