Jared Fields is a litigator practicing in the areas of securities litigation, real estate litigation, accountant and auditor liability, regulatory investigations and general commercial litigation.

Jared’s practice includes diverse matters, ranging from intellectual property disputes to breach of contract cases to insurance coverage. He represents individual officers, directors and special committees of the boards of public and private companies. Additionally, Jared’s practice includes litigation relating to real estate, such as property tort cases, easement disputes and commercial lease litigation. He has represented both shopping center owners and tenants in litigation relating to retail leases. Jared also represent title insurers and insured parties in quiet title cases.

Jared also has extensive experience in litigation involving complex accounting and finance issues. A significant part of his practice is in representation of accounting firms and auditors. In that area, he has experience in civil accounting and audit malpractice lawsuits, securities fraud class actions and regulatory enforcement actions. In responding to SEC and PCAOB investigations, Jared’s practice extends from responding to subpoenas, to preparing Wells submissions, to formal proceedings. His audit defense experience includes cases relating to alleged backdating of stock options, revenue recognition, securitizations, derivative instruments and complex accounting issues such as loss reserves. Jared also represents parties and creditors whose interests may be affected by SEC receiverships.

Jared has experience in other regulatory and administrative contexts, including challenging public contract awards under the Utah Procurement Code. He assists clients in responding to other regulatory investigations and inquiries, including by the Federal Aviation Administration. Recently, Jared has also represented several nonprofit professional certification boards, both in litigation and in general legal counseling.
