Janine Schwerter’s practice is concentrated in product liability litigation representing manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and motor vehicles, insurance defense litigation and health care litigation. She has experience with complex litigation and class actions.

Representative Litigation
- Represented Ford Motor Company in defending product liability actions in state court. Assisted in preparing and responding to discovery and discovery motions. Taken lead in depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, investigating officers and damage experts. Prepared and argued motions in limine. Prepared jury instructions, verdict forms and assisted with voir dire at trial.
- Represented pharmaceutical manufacturer in defending California class action in federal court and product liability actions in state court. Assisted in preparing successful motions to dismiss in federal court. Prepared and responded to discovery requests, reviewed ESI. Prepared motions in limine in state court actions.
- Represented medical laboratory in defending against medical negligence actions in state court. Successfully prepared and argued demurrer to four causes of action. Taken plaintiff depositions and defended client in deposition.
Pro Bono Experience
- Represented pro bono client in family court. Successfully set aside default judgment and negotiated removal of wage garnishment.
