Carlie Tovrea is a litigation partner with over ten years of experience defending clients in a variety of areas. Carlie’s practice is concentrated in litigation with significant emphasis on financial services litigation, internal investigations, cybersecurity and data privacy matters, and general commercial litigation.
Financial Services Litigation
Carlie defends financial services clients in wide variety of commercial and consumer matters including garnishments, consumer lending, breach of contract, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) claims, among others. Her financial services litigation experience also extends to the representation of financial institutions, lenders, servicers, and other financial industry clients. She further assists clients in responses to third-party of government investigatory subpoenas.
Investigations, Government Enforcement and White Collar Protection
Carlie regularly conducts internal investigations as well as represents companies and individuals in matters relating to federal and state civil and regulatory enforcement. She assists companies in connection with officer and director liability, legal challenges arising from government action, shareholder, consumer and whistle-blower claims, and other circumstances involving business-threatening conflict and crisis management.
Cybersecurity, Data Protection and Privacy
Carlie counsels clients regarding the full life cycle of enterprise risks associated with data protection issues and cybersecurity, including before, during, and after a data breach or other cyber-incidents or corporate crises. She assists clients nationwide in preparing for and responding to crises and solving complicated legal issues.
Carlie also has a CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Commercial Litigation
Carlie’s general commercial litigation practice includes prosecuting and defending claims on behalf of businesses in civil and regulatory matters. Carlie represents businesses and individuals with subpoena responses, contract disputes, tort claims, and other general business-related litigation issues. She also has experience defending insurance companies in insurance bad faith litigation and litigating real estate disputes.
