Asia Practice
Our Practice - What We Do
Snell & Wilmer´s Asia Practice was formed to better serve clients doing business or with interests throughout Asia. The firm has established several unique relationships with businesses in Asia, which allow for Snell & Wilmer intellectual property attorneys to work and live there for months at a time. The firm´s business and finance attorneys also travel to Asia, or coordinate visitations for Asian business leaders to assist them with identifying opportunities to expand their businesses in the United States and Asia.
Our Attorneys - Who We Are
This group of experienced transactional and litigation attorneys practice in Snell & Wilmer´s six western regional offices. Many of the attorneys in the Asia Practice are fluent in Japanese and Cantonese, as well as the Malay, Tamil, Hindhi and Malayalam languages. In addition, these attorneys are actively involved, with leadership roles in various international organizations, including the City of Phoenix Pacific Rim Advisory Council, Arizona Asian American Bar Association and the National Asian-Pacific American Bar Association.
With a diverse international client base, Snell & Wilmer attorneys are familiar with the special issues raised by the business and legal environment of most Asian countries. The Asia practice group of attorneys regularly travel to Japan, and other countries in the region for extended periods of time to provide extensive legal advice on international legal matters and serve as reliable resources on American business requirements for companies interested in expanding their U.S. businesses and distributions. This experience has also provided our attorneys with the opportunity to further establish and build extensive relationships in the public and private sector, and with local counsel throughout the region.
Our Clients - Who We Represent
Primary clients of the practice are some of Asia´s leading businesses. The firm handles legal services for a diverse international client base of large and small businesses. These legal services include establishing supply, distribution and franchising channels for emerging businesses in the region, international intellectual property licensing agreements, patent and trademark infringement for international manufacturers, business transactions for large media companies with international operations, foreign creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, international joint venture alliance agreements, tax planning for foreign corporations, antitrust and antitrust compliance issues, corporate restructuring, as well as estate planning and trust administration.
